Aubreigh Wyatt's Death

If you’ve seen the hashtag #LLAW on your social media feeds, you’ve heard of Aubreigh Wyatt. The 13-year-old from Ocean Springs, Miss., died by suicide on Sept. 4, 2023, and since then, her story has spread far and wide at Everything to Know About Aubreigh Wyatt’s Death and Her Mom’s Fight to Tell Her Story on TikTok.

Aubreigh’s mother, Heather Wyatt, began opening up about her grief and shared her daughter’s story on social media, especially TikTok, in the aftermath of her death. Aubreigh’s name and photos began to spread, and the hashtag #LLAW (Live Like Aubreigh Wyatt) started trending as well.

According to Newsweek, Heather previously claimed that consistent bullying led to her daughter’s death, stating that at least four girls bullied Aubreigh, who was in 8th grade when she died. Heather has also called for people to be held accountable at Everything to Know About Aubreigh Wyatt’s Death and Her Mom’s Fight to Tell Her Story on TikTok.

Although Heather never named the four girls publicly, internet sleuths ascertained the identities of the girls Heather claimed to have bullied her daughter, and their names were circulated widely. Purported texts between Heather and Aubreigh detailing the alleged bullying were also shared online at Everything to Know About Aubreigh Wyatt’s Death and Her Mom’s Fight to Tell Her Story on TikTok.

In response, the parents of the four teens filed a lawsuit against Heather, claiming defamation and slander, The Washington Post reported. After the July 2 filing, a judge also ruled that Heather must shut down all of her social media accounts, per the outlet. Many social media users were outraged at the ruling, saying it violated Heather’s freedom of speech. Supporters of Heather, including other popular TikTokers, have posted messages of support at Everything to Know About Aubreigh Wyatt’s Death and Her Mom’s Fight to Tell Her Story on TikTok.

Ophelia Nichols, also known as Mama Tot on TikTok, shared a message of support for Heather, which currently has more than 11 million views. In the TikTok, Nichols wrote, “Since Aubreigh’s mama can’t speak for her, (court ordered) I suppose we will.” Nichols added, “When their voice is silenced, use yours at Everything to Know About Aubreigh Wyatt’s Death and Her Mom’s Fight to Tell Her Story on TikTok.”

According to Newsweek, the complaint against Heather reads, in part, “As a direct and proximate cause of the false, defamatory, and slanderous social media posts of the defendant, Heather Wyatt, the plaintiffs’ minor children have been receiving insulting and revolting messages from around the world attacking them, calling them vulgar names, sexualizing them. These young ladies WERE IN THE 8TH GRADE!!”

However, on July 16, the parents dropped the lawsuit, according to a filing shared by Vicksburg News and reviewed by PEOPLE. The case was “dismissed without prejudice,” the filing reads, meaning the parents can file it in the future should they choose at Everything to Know About Aubreigh Wyatt’s Death and Her Mom’s Fight to Tell Her Story on TikTok.

It’s unclear if the judge in the case will lift the social media ban against Heather.

As of press time, Heather’s social media profiles — which garnered millions of views and shares around the world — were still not online at Everything to Know About Aubreigh Wyatt’s Death and Her Mom’s Fight to Tell Her Story on TikTok.

The Wyatt family created a GoFundMe campaign to assist with legal fees. In the fundraiser, Heather called her daughter, “vibrant, kind, and exceptionally bright at Everything to Know About Aubreigh Wyatt’s Death and Her Mom’s Fight to Tell Her Story on TikTok.”

“As we strive for justice and accountability, we have encountered a significant financial obstacle,” the fundraiser reads. It has currently raised more than $110,000.

Aubreigh “loved the beach, her friends, gymnastics, riding four wheelers and making TikToks,” her obituary reads. In addition to her mother, Aubreigh is survived by her sister, brother and grandfather at Everything to Know About Aubreigh Wyatt’s Death and Her Mom’s Fight to Tell Her Story on TikTok.

Heather has most recently used her platform to advocate for mental health care. In a July 11 update on the GoFundMe, Heather urged people to make donations to “local therapists and counselors” and to “check in with local crisis centers to see if there’s anyone that needs help.”

Trey Brennan, spokesman for Ocean Springs School District, shared the following statement with PEOPLE at Everything to Know About Aubreigh Wyatt’s Death and Her Mom’s Fight to Tell Her Story on TikTok.

“Ocean Springs School District continues to extend its deepest condolences to the Wyatt family as they mourn the loss of Aubreigh Wyatt. Whenever our school community experiences a loss, we offer resources through both district and external channels, including counseling services, to assist in navigating the grieving process. Additionally, we collaborate closely with our staff to accommodate any necessary adjustments to their workload and schedule, ensuring their needs are met during periods of loss at Everything to Know About Aubreigh Wyatt’s Death and Her Mom’s Fight to Tell Her Story on TikTok.

Despite misinformation being spread on social media, our administrators have been and will remain committed to addressing all reported incidents with integrity and dedication to the well-being of our students. Is stress making you angry and grouchy? Stress relievers can help bring back calm and peace to your busy life. You don’t have to put a lot of time or thought into stress relievers. If your stress is getting out of control and you need quick relief, try one of these tips.

Get active

Almost any form of physical activity can act as a stress reliever. Even if you’re not an athlete or you’re out of shape, exercise can still be a good stress reliever at Stress relievers: Tips to tame stress.

Physical activity can pump up your feel-good endorphins and other natural neural chemicals that boost your sense of well-being. Exercise also can refocus your mind on your body’s movements. This refocus can improve your mood and help the day’s irritations fade away. So go on a walk, take a jog, work in your garden, clean your house, bike, swim, weight train, vacuum or do anything else that gets you active at Stress relievers: Tips to tame stress.

Eat a healthy diet

Eating a healthy diet is an important part of taking care of yourself. Aim to eat many fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

Avoid unhealthy habits

Some people may deal with stress with unhealthy habits. These may include drinking too much caffeine or alcohol, smoking, eating too much, or using illegal substances. These habits can harm your health and increase your stress levels at Stress relievers: Tips to tame stress.

Meditate

During meditation, you focus your attention and quiet the stream of jumbled thoughts that may be crowding your mind and causing stress. Meditation can give you a sense of calm, peace and balance that can help both your emotional well-being and your overall health. Meditation can empower us to enhance our well-being.

You can practice guided meditation, guided imagery, mindfulness, visualization and other forms of meditation anywhere at any time. For example, you could meditate when you’re out for a walk, riding the bus to work or waiting at your health care provider’s office. Try an app to show you how to do these exercises. And you can try deep breathing anywhere at Stress relievers: Tips to tame stress.

Laugh more

A good sense of humor can’t cure all ailments. But it can help you feel better, even if you have to force a fake laugh through your grumpiness. When you laugh, it lightens your mental load. It also causes positive physical changes in the body. Laughter fires up and then cools down your stress response at Stress relievers: Tips to tame stress.

Connect with others

When you’re stressed and irritable, you may want to isolate yourself. Instead, reach out to family and friends and make social connections. Even one good friend who listens can make a difference.

Social contact is a good stress reliever because it can offer distraction, give support, and help you put up with life’s up and downs. So take a coffee break with a friend, email a relative or visit your place of worship at Stress relievers: Tips to tame stress.

Got more time? Try volunteering for a charity and help yourself while helping others.

Assert yourself

You might want to do it all, but you can’t, at least not without paying a price. Learning to say no or being willing to delegate can help you manage your to-do list and your stress. Healthy boundaries are important in a wellness journey. Everyone has physical and emotional limits.

Saying yes may seem like an easy way to keep the peace, prevent conflicts and get the job done right. But instead, it may cause you inner conflict because your needs and those of your family come second. Putting yourself second can lead to stress, anger, resentment and even the wish to take revenge. And that’s not a very calm and peaceful reaction. Remember, you’re a priority at Stress relievers: Tips to tame stress.

Try yoga

With its series of postures and breathing exercises, yoga is a popular stress reliever. Yoga brings together physical and mental disciplines that may help you reach peace of body and mind. Yoga can help you relax and ease stress and anxiety at Stress relievers: Tips to tame stress.

Try yoga on your own or find a class — you can find classes in many areas. Hatha yoga, especially, is a good stress reliever because of its slower pace and easier movements.

Get enough sleep

Stress can cause you to have trouble falling asleep. When you have too much to do — and too much to think about — your sleep can suffer. But sleep is the time when your brain and body recharge. Most adults need about 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night at Stress relievers: Tips to tame stress.

And how well and how long you sleep can affect your mood, energy level, focus and overall functioning. If you have sleep troubles, make sure that you have a quiet, relaxing bedtime routine. For example, listen to soothing music, make sure the area you sleep in is cool, dark and quiet, put phones and tablets away, and stick to a regular schedule.

Keep a journal

Writing down your thoughts and feelings can be a good release for otherwise pent-up feelings. Don’t think about what to write — let it happen. Write anything that comes to mind. No one else needs to read it. So don’t aim for perfect grammar or spelling.

Let your thoughts flow on paper, or on the computer screen. Once you’re done, you can toss out what you wrote or save it to think about later at Stress relievers: Tips to tame stress.

Get musical and be creative

Listening to or playing music is a good stress reliever. It can provide a mental distraction, lessen muscle tension and lower stress hormones. Turn up the volume and let your mind be absorbed by the music.

If music isn’t your cup of tea, why not focus on another hobby that brings you joy? For instance, you could give gardening, sewing, reading, or sketching a try! Or try any approach that helps you stay focused on the task at hand, rather than getting caught up in what you believe you should be doing. Ways to manage stress: Helpful tips to reduce stress.

Seek counseling

If new stressors are making it hard for you to cope or if self-care measures aren’t relieving your stress, you may want to think about therapy or counseling. Therapy also may be a good idea if you feel overwhelmed or trapped. You also may think about therapy if you worry a great deal, or if you have trouble carrying out daily routines or meeting duties at work, home or school at Stress relievers: Tips to tame stress.

Professional counselors or therapists can help you find the sources of your stress and learn new coping tools.

Journaling may help reduceTrusted Source stress and anxiety and provide a positive outlet for your thoughts and emotions.

A 2018 studyTrusted Source noted that expressive writing or therapeutic writing can benefit people managing chronic health conditions, including but not limited to mental health conditions like depression.

They noted that regular journaling may be linked to a higher quality of life, more proactive self-care behaviors, and other healthful behaviors, such as taking prescribed medications.

You can also try a guided journal if you’d prefer more targeted, expressive writing.

6. Reduce your caffeine intake

Caffeine is a chemical in coffee, tea, chocolate, and energy drinks that stimulates your central nervous system.

Consuming too much may worsen anxiety, according to a 2021 review of literatureTrusted Source on the subject. Overconsumption may also harm your sleep. In turn, this may increase stress and anxiety symptoms.

People have different thresholds for how much caffeine they can tolerate. If caffeine makes you jittery or anxious, consider cutting back by replacing coffee or energy drinks with decaffeinated coffee, herbal tea, or water at 16 Simple Ways to Relieve Stress.

Although coffee has health benefits in moderation, it’s recommended to keep caffeine intake under 400 mgTrusted Source daily, which equals 4–5 cups (0.9–1.2 L) of coffee.

Still, people sensitive to caffeine may experience increased anxiety and stress after consuming less caffeine than this, so it’s important to consider your tolerance.

7. Spend time with friends and family

Social support from friends and family may help you get through stressful times and cope with stress.

One 2019 studyTrusted Source in 163 Latinx college-age young adults associated lower levels of support from friends, family, and romantic partners with loneliness, depressive symptoms, and perceived stress.

Having a social support system is important for your overall mental health. If you’re feeling alone and don’t have friends or family to depend on, social support groups may help. Consider joining a club or sports team or volunteering for a cause that’s important to you at 16 Simple Ways to Relieve Stress.

8. Create boundaries and learn to say no

Not all stressors are within your control, but some are. Putting too much on your plate may increase your stress load and limit the amount of time you can spend on self-care.

One way to help reduce stress and protect your mental health may be to say “no” more often. This is especially true if you take on more than you can handle because juggling many responsibilities may leave you feeling overwhelmed.

Being selective about what you take on — and saying “no” to things that will unnecessarily add to your load — can reduce your stress levels at 16 Simple Ways to Relieve Stress.

Creating boundaries — especially with people who add to your stress levels — is a healthy way to protect your well-being. This can be as simple as asking a friend or family member not to stop by unannounced or canceling standing plans with a friend if you need more space.

9. Avoid procrastination

Another way to take control of your stress is to stay on top of your priorities and avoid procrastinating when you aren’t feeling stressed.

Procrastination may harm your productivity and leave you scrambling to catch up. This can cause stress, which negatively affects your health and sleep quality. It’s also true that you may be more likelyTrusted Source to procrastinate in times of stress as a coping mechanism at 16 Simple Ways to Relieve Stress.

A studyTrusted Source in 140 medical students in China linked procrastination to increased stress levels. The study also associated procrastination and delayed stress reactions with more negative parenting styles, including punishment and rejection.

If you find yourself procrastinating regularly, it may be helpful to make a to-do list organized by priority. Give yourself realistic deadlines and work your way down the list. Sometimes, adding an item to the list may help you feel better about it, even if it doesn’t get done immediately.

Work on the things that need to get done today, and give yourself chunks of uninterrupted time. Switching between tasks or multitasking can be stressful in itself at 16 Simple Ways to Relieve Stress.

10. Take a yoga class

Yoga has become a popular method of stress relief and exercise among all age groups.

While yoga styles differ, most share a common goal — to join your body and mind by increasing body and breath awareness.

ResearchTrusted Source shows that yoga helps reduce stress and anxiety. Plus, it can promote psychological well-being.

These benefits seem related to yoga’s effect on your nervous system and stress response at 16 Simple Ways to Relieve Stress.

Yoga may helpTrusted Source lower cortisol levels, blood pressure, and heart rate while increasing levels of gamma aminobutyric acid, a neurotransmitter that’s low in people with mood disorders.

11. Practice mindfulness

Mindfulness describes practices that anchor you to the present moment.

Stress reduction techniques that utilize mindfulness include meditation and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), a type of cognitive behavioral therapy.

Meditating consistently, even for short periods, may help boostTrusted Source your mood and decrease symptoms of stress and anxiety at 16 Simple Ways to Relieve Stress.

Countless books, apps, and websites can teach you the basics if you want to try meditation. There may also be therapists in your area who specialize in MBCT.

12. Cuddle

Human touch may have a calming effect and help you better cope with stress.

For example, studies show positive physical contact may help relieveTrusted Source stress and loneliness.

These types of contact may helpTrusted Source release oxytocin and lower cortisol. In turn, these effects help lower blood pressure and heart rate. Both high blood pressure and increased heart rate are physical symptoms of stress at 16 Simple Ways to Relieve Stress.

13. Spend time in nature

Spending more time outside may help reduce stress.

Studies show that spending time in green spaces such as parks and forests and being immersed in nature are healthy ways to manage stress.

A review of 14 studiesTrusted Source found that spending as little as 10 minutes in a natural setting may help improve psychological and physiological markers of mental well-being, including perceived stress and happiness, in college-aged people at 16 Simple Ways to Relieve Stress.

Hiking and camping are great options, but some people don’t enjoy — or have access to — these activities. Even in an urban area, you can seek out green spaces such as local parks, arboretums, and botanical gardens.

14. Practice deep breathing

Mental stress activates your sympathetic nervous system, sending your body into fight-or-flight mode.

During this reaction, stress hormones trigger physical symptoms such as a faster heartbeat, quicker breathing, and constricted blood vessels.

Deep breathing exercises may help activateTrusted Source your parasympathetic nervous system, which controls the relaxation response at 16 Simple Ways to Relieve Stress.

Deep breathing exercises include:

  • diaphragmatic breathing
  • alternate nostril breathing
  • box breathing
  • paced respiration

Deep breathing aims to focus your awareness on your breath, making it slower and deeper. When you breathe in deeply through your nose, your lungs fully expand, and your belly rises. This helps slow your heart rate, allowing you to feel at peace.

15. Spend time with a pet

Having a pet may help reduceTrusted Source stress and improve your mood.

When you cuddle or touch your pet, your body releases oxytocin — a hormone linked to a positive mood.

Plus, researchTrusted Source shows that pet owners — especially those with dogs — tend to have greater life satisfaction, better self-esteem, reduced levels of loneliness and anxiety, and more positive moods at 16 Simple Ways to Relieve Stress.

Having a pet may also help relieve stress by giving you purpose, keeping you active, and providing companionship.

16. Consider supplements

Several vitamins and minerals play an important role in your body’s stress response and mood regulation. As such, a deficiency in one or more nutrients may affect your mental health and ability to cope with stress.

Some studies show that certain dietary supplements may help reduce stress and improve mood.

For example, your magnesium levels may deplete when you’re chronically stressed at 16 Simple Ways to Relieve Stress.

Since this mineral plays an important role in your body’s stress response, you may want to ensure you’re getting enough each day. Supplementing with magnesium has been shownTrusted Source to improve stress in chronically stressed people.

Other supplements, including Rhodiola, ashwagandha, B vitamins, and L-theanine, may also help reduce stress, though more research is needed to understand their potential benefits better.

However, dietary supplements may not be appropriate or safe for everyone. Consult a healthcare professional if you’re interested in using supplements to help relieve stress at 16 Simple Ways to Relieve Stress.

The bottom line

Although stress is unavoidable, being chronically stressed takes a toll on your physical and mental health.

Fortunately, several evidence-based strategies can help you reduce stress and improve your overall psychological well-being at 16 Simple Ways to Relieve Stress.

Exercise, mindfulness, spending time with a pet, minimizing screen time, and getting outside more often are all effective methods.

Top Gear’s top 20 electric cars

by Henry

Fiat 500 / Abarth 500e

“The 500 is small, but if you don’t need space it could be your only car. That’s because it’ll go far enough on a charge to make motorway trips tenable. Whereas the Honda e or Mini electric would have to be second cars to anyone who ever drives beyond conurbations rather than just within them at Top Gear’s top 20 electric cars.”

“The Abarth is based on the Fiat 500 electric, just like when Carlo Abarth himself began emboldening Fiat 500s back in the late 1950s. That brings a super-compact electric hatchback, front-wheel drive and design that’s a retro-modernised version of those 1950s themes. They even gave it a sound generator designed to mimic a petrol engine at Top Gear’s top 20 electric cars.”

Lotus Eletre

“The trick here is to roll with the fact that the Eletre has nothing to do with ‘traditional Lotus’, but that doesn’t mean it can’t align itself with Lotus values, and be an interesting aspect of a growing brand. Yes, it’s built in China and not Norfolk. Yes it’s electric. Yes, it’s a high-riding SUV. But it’s also a really very convincing one, and despite all the various arguments arranged against it, it still, just a little bit, has some Lotusness in there. More than enough to take on anything in the sector – including electric luminaries like Tesla.”

Hyundai Kona Electric

“Yep, this really is what actual production family crossovers look like these days. Bravo, Hyundai at Top Gear’s top 20 electric cars.

“The button-filled interior should be applauded in this day and age, and prices that start in the mid-£30k region aren’t bad in today’s market either. The Kona Electric may have way more rivals than it did when it first arrived back in 2017, but this refresh keeps it right up towards the top of our tree.”

Renault Scenic E-Tech

“Renault has another family electric hatch, the Megane E-Tech Electric, but people have complained it’s not roomy enough in the back. The Scenic is largely the same up front but has a 100mm longer wheelbase, devoted to the rear at Top Gear’s top 20 electric cars.

“People also grumbled that the Megane’s battery size isn’t enough, so the Scenic comes with 87kWh as standard. That’s 391 miles WLTP. Which ought to shut them up.”

Hyundai Ioniq 6

“We’ve been saying how much of a roll Hyundai is on for the last three-to-four years. This is just further evidence of that, with the twist of a different styling vibe. Its performance is entirely in line with how Hyundai is pitching it: this is a comfortable, effortlessly smooth and easy cruiser. To operate, as well as drive. It soaks up miles, uses its charge surprisingly sparingly and does as much as possible to mitigate range anxiety at Top Gear’s top 20 electric cars.”

Maserati GranTurismo Folgore

“This is a car that has real cachet, that feels, acts and drives expensively and comes across as better engineered and developed than any Maserati in living memory.

“As a company it has momentum and investment behind it right now. The wonderful MC20 is a halo, and the SUVs will sell in bigger numbers. But this is Maserati’s signature dish.”

Kia EV9

“Kia’s flagship product feels like a worthy range-topper not simply because it offers a lot of metal, chair and equipment for the money at Top Gear’s top 20 electric cars.

It’s a product that has been carefully designed, with durability for everyday family use, advanced features to ensure it remains relevant in the future, and impressive range and performance that justifies its price, which would have been considered unreasonable for a Kia or any Korean car ten years ago.

Volvo EX30

“The audited CO2 footprint of a base-model EX30 out of the factory is only 18 tonnes; not much more than many petrol rivals. The UK electricity it uses to drive for an 8,000-mile year emits about 0.4 tonnes of power-station CO2, where a petrol car would emit 1.8 tonnes from its exhaust. So the EX30’s lifetime CO2 is about half that of a petrol at Top Gear’s top 20 electric cars.”

BMW i4

“We like the Tesla Model 3 and Polestar 2, but there’s still a vacancy for a really sweet-driving alternative. The i4 is that alternative. In eDrive40 guise it rides very well and handles more deftly than any other comparative EV.

“It doesn’t look like a spaceship, but lots of people don’t want that. This car’s secret superpower is that it’s a proper BMW.”

Volkswagen ID.7

“In many ways the ID.7 has absolutely nailed the brief. The space, comfort, range and efficiency are impressive, even in the smaller-battery Pro version that’ll hit European roads first.

“Perhaps most of all, it’s easier to use and less of an oddball than the earlier ID models. VWs should be friendly. This is at Top Gear’s top 20 electric cars.”

Jeep Avenger

“Well, who’da thunk it? Jeep has built an excellent city car. Like any decent EV the powertrain is silent and smooth, and it qualifies for various cheap parking and congestion-zone incentives. It’s small and manoeuvrable and the boxy outline helps you judge the corners. The bash-resistant exterior and speedbump-happy suspension calm your nerves.

“That’s not all, mind. It has OK range and quick-enough rapid charging, so its long-distance compass is perfectly tolerable. The cruising manners are fine, and it’s even fairly chuckable in corners. Thank the small size and long-travel suspension at Top Gear’s top 20 electric cars.”

Polestar 2

“We love the Polestar 2 because it’s handsome, the build quality will give Audi drivers PTSD, and there’s a real sense of humility about the car. It’s been designed to work seamlessly, not to wow you with gimmicks then wind you up further down the line. Single Motor iterations make it more accessible for most too.”

BMW i7

“BMWs have always relied on their mostly great engines for the soul and sensation we all crave, as well as their dynamics, but the focus is shifting elsewhere now. The new 7 Series has arguably the finest interior in the automotive world, beautifully executed, well-made and imaginative. You can argue among yourselves about the exterior design, but inside is a knock-out at Top Gear’s top 20 electric cars.

“It’s blissfully smooth, fast and easy to drive, and impressively efficient for such a large car. A lot of clever, highly motivated people have dug very deep here and you can tell. The i7 is one hell of a car.”

Dacia Spring

“The Spring’s appeal is that it’s everything that many electric cars aren’t: it’s not over-wrought or heavy-handed, it’s honest and enjoyable and manages to keep the dream of a low impact electric car alive and proves to everyone else it is possible for a battery electric vehicle to weigh largely the same as its petrol equivalent. Well done Dacia, let’s hope that where you lead, others will follow at Top Gear’s top 20 electric cars.”

BMW i5

“The BMW i5 is an exceptional new car. We’ll have to wait to try the combustion versions of the new 5 Series, but if BMW’s stated aim here was to combine 3 Series dynamism with 7 Series luxury, it’s mission accomplished: this is the best-handling car in its class and makes a Model S feel like a shopping trolley. Especially the M60. Yes it’s expensive, but it feels every penny of the billion-pound investment it surely was for its maker.”

Tesla Model 3 / Tesla Model Y

“This is the future we were promised – a car with sentience, a sense of humour, and a fresh take on the old norms. After trying this, your old repmobile will just feel a bit dull. The Model 3 has been in production since mid-2017, but even heading into old age, nothing on the market has yet managed to beat it on all fronts. While not without flaws, it is quite simply one of the most interesting, compelling cars in the world right now. We might even look back on it as the car that changed the way we all drive at Top Gear’s top 20 electric cars.”

“It would have been one of the shocks of the century if Tesla had heightened a Model 3 and spoiled it in the process. In short, it has not.”

MG4

“On the face of it, the MG4 doesn’t seem like a very exciting car – certainly not something Top Gear would give a massively high score to. But when you dig into what it does for the money, how high it scores on multiple levels, it’s probably the only car in the class to recommend. It’s got range, charging, equipment, zippy dynamics and now some style.”

Porsche Taycan

“The Taycan can absolutely entertain on the right road and is a delight to cruise in – a GT with the heart of a sports car. More importantly, it’s a proper Porsche that just happens to run on electricity at Top Gear’s top 20 electric cars.”

Rolls-Royce Spectre

“Electric has enriched the Rolls-Royce. It’s still a galloping, ocean-going, 24-carat indulgence, but with a tasteful specification it’s just about possible to swerve absolute vulgarity.

“It’s rich in the decadence of the so-called glory days but gratifyingly simple to operate for a product of 2023. While other manufacturers wrestle with the conundrum of transposing their family heirloom values into an electric future, the age of electric propulsion will suit Rolls-Royce very well indeed at Top Gear’s top 20 electric cars.”

Hyundai Ioniq 5 N

“Right now, the Ioniq 5 N is an electric car that’s as involving as a really good petrol car. In some ways it does that by brazenly impersonating a petrol drivetrain. The surprising thng is that’s absolutely not just a gimmick.

“Then in corners it has some original tricks of its own. It’s not just fast, it’s confident and playful so it’s fun even when it’s not going fast. It’s useful and versatile too at .

“So it has many of the talents you expect from an electric car, and many more that so far are unique in EVs. Which makes us call it a new and brilliant chapter.”
